U2’s Warwas released in 1983, marking a decisive step forward in the Irish band’s development and establishing their reputation for politically engaged, anthemic rock. Produced by Steve Lillywhite, the album combines urgent post-punk energy with powerful rhythms, atmospheric guitar work and Bono’s impassioned vocals. Highlights include “Sunday Bloody Sunday,” “New Year’s Day,” “Two Hearts Beat as One” and “40.” A defining early U2 album that helped establish the band as an international force.
