The Nitty Gritty Sextet’s self-titled album blends Latin soul, boogaloo and mambo with lively percussion and dancefloor rhythms. Recorded in 1967, the sessions feature musicians from New York’s Latin scene, including Tito Puente, Jimmy Sabater and Louie Ramírez. Highlights include “Nitty Boo Boo,” “Rice and Beans” and “Dixie’s Mambo.”
