The Kinks' Face to Face, originally released in 1966, is the British band's fourth studio album and a significant development in Ray Davies' increasingly sophisticated songwriting. Moving beyond the raw rhythm and blues of their earlier recordings, the album combines melodic pop, folk rock and distinctly British social observation, exploring themes of class, everyday life and personal relationships. Featuring "Sunny Afternoon," "Dandy," "Party Line" and "Too Much on My Mind," the record helped establish Davies as one of the most distinctive songwriters of his generation. This 2022 Sanctuary Records reissue presents an essential album from The Kinks' classic 1960s catalogue.
