The Breeders – Pod (Vinyl LP, 4AD, 2018 Reissue) – Mint / Sealed

The Breeders’ Pod is the influential 1990 debut album from the alternative rock band formed by Kim Deal of Pixies and Tanya Donelly of Throwing Muses. Produced by Steve Albini, the album combines sparse, angular guitar arrangements with distinctive vocal harmonies, shifting between restrained melodies and bursts of distorted noise. Highlights include “Glorious,” “Doe,” “Iris” and their striking interpretation of the Beatles’ “Happiness Is a Warm Gun.” A defining record of the early alternative rock era.
