Barry Harris’ Magnificent! is a fine piano trio session from one of bebop’s most accomplished and devoted interpreters. Harris brings his characteristically precise touch, flowing lines and deep understanding of the Bud Powell tradition to a relaxed, swinging set of standards and bop-inflected material. Elegant, direct and firmly rooted in the language of modern jazz, it is an excellent example of Harris in the intimate trio format.
