Talking Heads – Stop Making Sense (Vinyl LP, EMI Records, 1984) – EX / EX

Stop Making Sense captures Talking Heads at their live peak, recorded during the 1983 tour documented in Jonathan Demme’s celebrated concert film. The band expands throughout the performance, with David Byrne, Chris Frantz, Tina Weymouth and Jerry Harrison joined by musicians including Bernie Worrell and Alex Weir. The result is an exceptionally tight mixture of new wave, funk, art rock and African-influenced rhythms. Highlights include “Psycho Killer,” “Burning Down the House,” “Life During Wartime” and “Once in a Lifetime.”
