Getz is a double-LP collection drawing from Stan Getz’s early Prestige recordings, documenting the development of the remarkably fluid tenor saxophone style that would become his signature. These performances capture Getz in a straight-ahead modern jazz setting, well before his later association with bossa nova, with his cool tone and effortless melodic phrasing already fully apparent. An excellent overview of an important early period in Getz’s career.
