Sonic Youth’s Flower / Halloween is a 1986 release from the band’s formative New York noise-rock period. “Flower” combines Kim Gordon’s vocals with abrasive, interlocking guitars and a driving rhythm, while “Halloween” explores a darker, more atmospheric sound. An early example of the experimental guitar work and uncompromising approach that would define Sonic Youth’s catalogue.
