Slayer's Seasons in the Abyss, originally released in 1990, is the American thrash metal band's fifth studio album and one of the defining recordings of the genre. Combining the relentless speed and aggression of their earlier work with slower, more deliberate arrangements, the album features the distinctive guitar interplay of Kerry King and Jeff Hanneman alongside Tom Araya's commanding vocals and Dave Lombardo's powerful drumming. Highlights include "War Ensemble," "Dead Skin Mask" and the title track, all of which remain central to Slayer's catalogue.
