Pulp's This Is Hardcore, originally released in 1998, is the band's sixth studio album and a darker, more introspective follow-up to Different Class. Combining alternative rock, Britpop and sophisticated orchestral arrangements, the album explores themes of fame, ageing, desire and disillusionment through Jarvis Cocker's distinctive songwriting. Featuring "Help the Aged," "This Is Hardcore," "A Little Soul" and "The Fear," it remains one of the band's most ambitious recordings.
