Mark Knopfler's Local Hero, originally released in 1983, is the soundtrack to Bill Forsyth's acclaimed Scottish film of the same name. Knopfler's first major film score combines atmospheric instrumentals, folk influences, gentle jazz textures and his distinctive guitar playing to evoke the landscapes and coastal communities of Scotland. Featuring "Wild Theme," "The Rocks and the Water" and "Going Home: Theme of the Local Hero," the album remains one of his most celebrated works outside Dire Straits. This 2020 reissue is released on Mercury / Vertigo Records.
