Jay McShann’s Tuxedo Junction, featuring Don Thompson, is a warm, swinging jazz session rooted in the Kansas City tradition. McShann’s blues-inflected piano is complemented by Thompson’s assured playing, giving the record a relaxed, intimate feel. A fine example of McShann’s later work and his enduring connection to blues and swing.
