Harvey Mandel’s Shangrenade is a 1974 instrumental album combining psychedelic blues, jazz-rock and funk with the guitarist’s highly individual electric style. Mandel makes extensive use of two-handed tapping and effects, pushing the guitar into unusual tonal and rhythmic territory while retaining a strong blues foundation. An adventurous mid-70s recording that sits comfortably between psychedelic rock, fusion and groove-heavy instrumental music.
