The Moon and the Melodies is the 1986 collaboration between ambient composer Harold Budd and Cocteau Twins members Elizabeth Fraser, Robin Guthrie and Simon Raymonde. Combining Budd’s spacious piano with Guthrie’s atmospheric guitar treatments, Raymonde’s bass and Fraser’s ethereal vocals, the album occupies a beautiful space between ambient music, dream pop and the distinctive 4AD sound. Highlights include “Sea, Swallow Me,” “Eyes Are Mosaics” and “Why Do You Love Me?”
