Livelia 79 captures trumpeter Digby Fairweather and pianist Ivan De-Swarte in an intimate live setting, documenting the traditional and mainstream British jazz scene at the end of the 1970s. The stripped-back trumpet and piano format gives both musicians plenty of space, with Fairweather’s bright, lyrical playing complemented by De-Swarte’s responsive accompaniment. An unusual private-press recording and an appealing piece of British jazz history.
