De La Soul’s De La Soul Is Dead combines inventive sampling, sharp humour and storytelling with a darker edge than their debut. Originally released in 1991, the album features “A Roller Skating Jam Named ‘Saturdays’,” “Ring Ring Ring (Ha Ha Hey)” and “Millie Pulled a Pistol on Santa,” balancing playful grooves with pointed social commentary.
