Curtis Mayfield’s Curtis is his landmark 1970 solo debut, combining sophisticated Chicago soul with socially conscious songwriting and richly layered arrangements. Following his work with The Impressions, Mayfield expanded his sound with orchestration, funk rhythms and some of his most direct political writing.
