Chess is the 1984 concept album written by ABBA duo Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus, and musical theatre legend Tim Rice, created prior to the full stage West End production. Built around Cold War themes and a chess battle between US and Russian Grand-Master rivals, it blends theatrical songwriting with 80s pop production and arena-scale arrangements. Featuring performances by Elaine Paige, Barbara Dickson and Murray Head, it includes “I Know Him So Well” and “One Night in Bangkok.” Comes with a 20 page booklet.
