Familiar with each other’s styles by this point, 1970’s ‘San Francisco’ album found jazz vibraphonist Bobby Hutcherson and tenor sax player Harold Land moving away from post-bop into jazz fusion territory. The ensemble pursues intense, head-nodding grooves on these six originals, which include compositions by pianist Joe Sample.
