The Allman Brothers Band’s Idlewild South is their 1970 second album, bringing together Southern rock, blues, soul and jazz-influenced improvisation in the sound that would soon reach full flight on At Fillmore East. Produced by Tom Dowd, the album features Duane Allman and Dickey Betts’ twin-guitar interplay alongside Gregg Allman’s vocals and organ. Highlights include “Midnight Rider,” “Revival,” “In Memory of Elizabeth Reed” and “Hoochie Coochie Man.”
